- Ruminations on the Web 2 Expo
-
The SamePage team is generally pleased by what we saw and heard at the Web 2 Expo. Our 'big splash' was of course the announcement of the internationalized version of SamePage, and it did attract many inquisitive attendees to our booth. We of course got the usual stream of managers and decision makers from numerous corporations keen to embrace the Web 2.0 expo.
Equally interesting was surveying the landscape of other exhibitors -- infrastructure (read colo/managed services providers), Social Networking firms (including the 'first-mover' Friendster), our competitors, sponsors(Webex, Etelos) and more. Since the event has become a proxy for defining the technorati in the Web 2.0 ecosystem, it was intriguing to hear, see and experience the buzz in the room.
It does seem like there is a trend towards a widget-based, cloud-supported, SaaS-delivered and Ajax-display movement. Lots of interesting technologies and firms that seem to touch upon one or more of these offerings. It will be interesting to see which of these will cross the chasm to become world-class Web 2.0 players.
Namaste,

- SamePage 3.5 enhances our global signature
-
We're proud to announce the availibility of SamePage in many international languages. The globalization of the user interface along with other enhancements like team blogging are the highlights of our latest release, SamePage 3.5 : http://support.etouch.net/cm/wiki/?id=51460
These are exciting times at eTouch. Our lengthening global footprint gives us better street cred and opens up numerous opportunities overseas especially in Europe and Asia. We stand to gain from the strong demand for powerful Wikis with foreign language interfaces --something that some of our current customers have asked for, and something we believe will resonate well with future leads, customers and partners.
Do contact us at sales@etouch.net with questions.
Till next time,

- SamePage going global
-
It's official -- SamePage will soon be available in tons of languages!
Catering to the needs of some of our existing customers, as well as addressing what we consider to be a large international market, we are now in the final stages of releasing a fully internationalized version of SamePage. This exciting development will mean that end-users will now be able to customize their SamePage interface, menus, etc in the language of their preference.
Here is a more detailed explanation of this feature, as well as other features in SamePage 3.5.
Kudos to our engineering team for making this possible as well as to partners that have come forward to help us with certain translations.

- It's Conference and Announcements time
-
A few of us have emailed us inquiring about why things are 'quiet' at SamePage.
Well, we have been working assiduously on some cool new features that are now in 'QA stage'. We will be announcing them (with some fanfare) close to, or at, a couple of conferences this spring:
1. The Web 2.0 Expo at Moscone Center in San Francisco
2. The Java One Conference -- same location
If you are planning to attend make sure to come by our booth to check out these exciting new developments here. For those not planning to, here's another reason to visit SF!
Cheers,
SamePage Team

- A tete-a-tete with CMSWire
-
Hot on the heels of announcing the WebEx Connect partnership, we accepted an invitation to talk to CMSWire.
The article elegantly articulates our thoughts on SamePage and Connect, namely:
- Wikis, Blogs and other mashup tools are going to form the core of the next generation of Internet activity
- Rich WYSIWYG editors and a dedicated support team are extremely important for partners and end-users when selecing a Wiki
- As Wiki deployments grow larger in size, eTouch's robust and scalable CMS platform will prove to be a great asset to Enteprises adopting SamePage
- Wikis and similar Web 2.0 tools are fast moving out of their 'geeky' image and are rapidly being adopted by mainstream businesses across verticals and geographies
Cheers,

- Connecting with WebEx
-
As many of you might know, we recently announced a partnership with WebEx Connect. Here are a couple of links to articles that appeared in the media:
CMS Wire
Computer World
We are very excited about this partnership as it truly represents a defining moment for SamePage. Wikis like SamePage are going to be an integral part of tools used by knowledge workers in the Internet/Web 2.0 ecosystem, as they have the potentially to substantially increases productivity and to make information more relevant and timely. Most importantly, Wikis enable the creation, editing and dissemination for such information through and engaging and social environment, thereby reducing frictions that oppose their adoptions amongst corporations.
Our relationship with Webex will enable end-users of the Connect platform to use SamePage seamlessly from within the existing Connect framework to collaborate effectively with their colleagues. They can use the Wikis to create projects and pages, to search through content and to interact through mechanisms like discussion boards.
Stay tuned for more!

- Searching through Wikis
-
A stream of positive developments continued to emanate for the Wiki industry, including the announcement of the launch of a new search engine Wikia.com
Wikia is an interesting way to approach one important activity of interaction with Wikis: Search. Searching through Wiki pages is definitely a key tool for end-users to locate relevant content, and it's importance naturally increases with the volume of content. Further, the 'Web 2.0 user-voted' style is yet another endorsement for the democratic, and community-endoresed nature of Wikis.
In eTouch SamePage, we have also paid utmost importance to our search functionality -- by ensuring it is context sensitive (search from that level in the tree, and everywhere down), ACL-aware (you get to see result pages that you have access to) and versatile (search through content, forums and attachments). To further fine-tune the search results, we have advanced search capabilities.
Further, SamePage incorporates tags and tag clouds as a further way to explicitly tag and display content based on user-generated keywords. Again, the focus remains on the user and the community. Tags also serve as a great proxy for the popularity of content -- for example many pages tagged with 'Iowa' will ensure that browsing a project by tags will result in a prominent display for Iowa.

- Shining on EWeek
-
A well-published article inside eWeek was the perfect catalyst for our Thanksgiving holiday celebration. It reinforces most of our beliefs, and some conjecture, about the Wiki ecosystem:
- Slowely, and surely, Web 2.0 technologies like Wikis, Blogs, Tag Clouds, RSS Feeds, plugins etc are capturing the mindshare of major corporations globally.
- These technologies will radically transform they way we interact and comport with our colleagues and stakeholders.
- Information left in the minds, and hard drives, of knowledge workers just will not do. There will be a groundswell in support for the movements that attemps to capture, centralize and disseminate this information.
- An evangelist, or an evangelical group, is the greatest catalyst for perpetrating the viralness of Web 2.0 tools
- And(with a war cry
) tools like SamePage will be one of the premier tools that will shepherd corporations into this movement.
Cheers,
Ani

- SamePage 3.4 expands our repertoire
-
With SamePage 3.4, we are expanding our repertoire of features and functionality towards our goal of becoming the leader Enterprise Wiki player globally.
The more notable features in SamePage 3.4 include
- An import tool that allows users to migrate content from other website (including those created by other Wiki products) into SamePage. We have been seeing numerous instances of dissatisfied users wanting to migrate into SamePage seamlessly; and our new import tool is a strong step in that direction.
- More support for internationalization -- to support and delight our growing customer bases outside of English-speaking countries.
- Better UI for versioning of attachments, as well as comparing different page revisions.
- And tons more
Check it out and let us know!

- More musings,hot off CMSWire
-
An endorsement from the media about our product's ease of use and enterprise-readiness is the perfect antidote to a gloomy, rainy day in the Bay Area.
I am confident that Wikis will eventually become a mainstream collaboration technology, fuelled largely by the intuitive and powerful front end inherent in tools like SamePage. The moment you remove the learning curve from the equation, business and technical users alike migrate readily towards new platforms that enhance their collaboration endeavors.
2008 might well be the tipping point as far as adoption of Wikis goes. Our team is hard at work to build a product that will charm and delight you towards meeting building effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
