Ruminations on the Web 2 Expo

The SamePage team is generally pleased by what we saw and heard at the Web 2 Expo. Our 'big splash' was of course the announcement of the internationalized version of SamePage, and it did attract many inquisitive attendees to our booth. We of course got the usual stream of managers and decision makers from numerous corporations keen to embrace the Web 2.0 expo.

Equally interesting was surveying the landscape of other exhibitors -- infrastructure (read colo/managed services providers), Social Networking firms (including the 'first-mover' Friendster), our competitors, sponsors(Webex, Etelos) and more. Since the event has become a proxy for defining the technorati in the Web 2.0 ecosystem, it was intriguing to hear, see and experience the buzz in the room.

It does seem like there is a trend towards a widget-based, cloud-supported, SaaS-delivered and Ajax-display movement. Lots of interesting technologies and firms that seem to touch upon one or more of these offerings. It will be interesting to see which of these will cross the chasm to become world-class Web 2.0 players.

Namaste,

Ani
